What materials are good for exterior flooring?

There are many options available for pool decks, patios, driveways and other outdoor spaces. Characteristics of exterior flooring that most people seek are an anti-slip finish, style, durability and temperature tolerance (especially in extremely hot climates).

Pavers are generally sand set and range in thickness between 3/4” – 3” depending on the type. We offer several types of pavers, including porcelain, concrete, and a variety of natural stones. Tiles ranging in thickness from 3/8”-3/4” can be mortar set over concrete or other proper substrates.

Porcelain and concrete have excellent durability, good slip resistance and are low maintenance, but do have a tendency to retain heat more than many natural stones. Porcelain tiles with added antislip are available in many colors, sizes and styles. Natural stone requires more maintenance and can be a bit slippery (depending on the finish). Although, many stones stay cooler to the touch than porcelain. Natural stone is timelessly elegant and adds value.
